Brewers' Brice Turang: Blasts homer in loss

    2h ago

Turang went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Monday in a loss to the Angels.

Turang plated the final run of the contest with his 419-foot solo shot in the fifth inning. The second-year infielder has gone deep four times through 68 games this season after hitting six homers in 137 contests last year. Turang's skill set is more centered on speed than power, so anything fantasy managers get in the homer department is a nice bonus. The speedster has made a big impact on the rosters of fantasy managers who had the foresight to pick him up late in fantasy drafts or on the waiver wire, as he's slashing .291/.359/.406 on the season with 25 RBI, 35 runs and 26 stolen bases in 27 attempts.

  • Zachary Neto LAA SS

Neto went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Monday's 5-3 win against Milwaukee.

Neto provided what turned out to be the winning margin with his two-run shot in the fourth inning. The long ball was his 10th of the season through 260 plate appearances, one more than he hit across 329 plate appearances as a rookie last year. Three of Neto's homers have come over his past six games, and he's produced seven RBI while batting .318 over that span.

  • Carlos Rodriguez MIL SP

Brewers' Carlos F. Rodriguez: Drops second straight start

    2h ago

Rodriguez (0-2) took the loss against the Angels on Monday, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out three batters over 4.2 innings.

Rodriguez's second big-league outing went about as poorly as his first -- he gave up two fewer hits but twice as many earned runs while failing to complete five frames. The right-hander did make it through two innings unscathed but was stung by a three-run third before serving up a two-run homer in the fourth. Rodriguez has given up six earned runs across 8.1 frames over his two starts, and he could be pushed back to the minors if Jakob Junis (shoulder) returns to the big club this week, as expected.

  • Carlos Estevez LAA RP

Angels' Carlos Estevez: Logs 13th save Monday

    2h ago

Estevez earned a save against the Brewers on Monday, striking out one batter in a perfect ninth inning.

Estevez had little trouble protecting a two-run, ninth-inning lead, retiring the side in order on 13 pitches. The veteran reliever has turned things around after a rough middle portion of May -- he hasn't allowed a baserunner in seven straight outings, racking up six saves and a win during that span. As such, his hold on the Angels' closer role is, for now at least, very secure.

  • Zach Plesac LAA SP

Angels' Zach Plesac: Earns win in team debut

    2h ago

Plesac (1-0) earned the win over Milwaukee on Monday, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out one batter over six innings.

Plesac was called upon for an emergency start after projected starter Jose Soriano was unable to pitch due to an abdominal issue. Plesac did quite well considering the circ*mstances, squeaking by with a quality start and a victory in his first game as an Angel. The former Guardian did give up two homers and notched just one punchout, with the latter number serving as a reminder of one of Plesac's biggest flaws -- he's never never posted higher than a 6.8 K/9 in a full big-league season. If Soriano misses additional time, Plesac could get at least one more turn in the rotation, though he isn't likely to be a popular waiver-wire target in fantasy circles.

  • Miguel Rojas LAD SS

Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Collects three hits Monday

    3h ago

Rojas went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI against the Rockies in Monday's 9-5 victory.

With Mookie Betts going down with a fractured left hand Sunday and set to miss several weeks, Rojas appears primed for a near-everyday role at shortstop. He did his best Betts impression Monday, notching three hits for the third time this season and scoring twice. Naturally, fantasy managers shouldn't expect Rojas to come anywhere near Betts' level of production, though the former Miami Marlin is having a solid season at the dish with a .292/.339/.460 slash line, three homers, 10 doubles, 15 RBI, 15 runs and three stolen bases through 121 plate appearances.
